Using PayPal To Buy Windows 8
Just to be clear this is probably an outlier type problem since it is something that will only interest a small minority of people but for me; and others who don’t have a credit card – or don’t want to use it for online purposes – this was a nice added bonus to find out today.
As we headed into the availability of Windows 8 and the pretty decent price for the downloadable install version for it my concern was whether or not I would be able to actually purchase the downloadable version from Microsoft, since that is the only place I think That Windows 8 is available in that format.
So with a little bit of trepidation I headed over to the Microsoft Windows 8 page and clicked on the download button to start my process of upgrading to Windows 8 using the Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant frontend that gets downloaded.
Needless to say that when I got to the enter information section and still no sign of any PayPal support my concern rose a little bit, after all I really didn’t want to have to go out and actually get the physical media at a $69 price point.
So imagine my pleasure when I got to the select payment screen and there in the drop down list of option was PayPal. Five minutes later and I was finished, with my product key on the way by email, and ready to start upgrading.
It may not seem like much to a lot of you but trust me, having this option is nice and I am sure that a lot more people will appreciate it when they decide to bite the bullet and move to Windows 8.
Thanks Microsoft.
