Leading up to the full release of Internet Explorer 9 the IE team did something rather interesting, and unexpected. They made a Developer Preview available for download. Now this wasn’t the full browser but rather a self-contained browser (no address bar or any typical browser feature) that let you see and test out some of the features that were a part of IE9.
As with 9 the IE team has made available a test drive version of Internet Explorer 10 that you can download and run. The first platform preview was made available on the Internet Explorer Test Drive site back in April 2011 and word out today is that they have just made Preview 2 available for download as well.
Some of the new things you can expect in this new preview are:
Speed Demos
- Fireflies
- setImmediate API
- Page Visibility
- Async Scripts
HTML5 Demos
- Positioned Floats
- HTML 5 Forms
- HTML 5 Sandbox
- Media Query Listeners
Graphics Demos
- How Stuff Works
- requestAnimationFrame
- Web Worker Fountains
- Magnetic Poetry
Oh and just a quick update note. Thanks to Alex Wilhelm at The Next Web for reminding me that the IE 10 Preview will not work on Vista or XP.
