The other day there was a Business Insider story that traveled rather quickly through the tech blogosphere about how Dell wasn’t going to be a launch partner for Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7. The news obviously raised a lot of eyebrows because Dell is considered to be a must have launch partner. Not to mention they have one of the best looking Windows Phone 7 handsets.

Well it turns out that Jay Yarrow, the Business Insider blogger with the supposed scoop, was blowing hot air out of one of his orifices. In order to stem the rumors Dell was forced to release a statement saying that they are going to be releasing a Windows Phone 7 handset.

Any reports, or speculation, that report Dell will not support Windows Phone 7 are false… Microsoft announced Dell as a supporting partner at this year’s Mobile World Congress and nothing’s changed. We are excited to collaborate with Microsoft on Windows Phone 7, and are looking forward to bringing customers amazing mobile experiences.

At this point Business Insider has a rather convoluted update to the original post but going by Dell’s statement it is re-assuring to see that they are still in the game.
