DAEDALUS: A Real-Time Cyber-Alert System That Isn't From The Future [Video] - Winextra
While this might look like something from some sci-fi movie, like Minority Report, the fact is that it is very real and coming very soon to ISP and other networks in Japan very soon.
Called DAEDALUS (Direct Alert Environment for Darknet and Livenet Unified Security) it is a cyber-alert system that has been in the making for several years and according to its creators it works by detecting threats via large-scale monitoring of the Internet’s unused IP addresses, which they refer to as the ‘darknet’.
The large blue spinning orb in the center is meant to represent the whole Internet and the orbiting balls are are those networks under observation. Each of the circles displays in blue the proportion of the network containing active IP addresses the red circles are alerts which when selected will display information about what is happening.
This is pretty damn cool.
