Are You A Student? Get a Free Xbox 360 With Purchase of a Windows 7 PC

Reality has to strike sometime for me folks, and that reality is striking me now. In a little less than three months my third semester of college will be starting right back up, and with a Mac that was recently on the fritz, I am internally debating a new PC purchase. This is alongside the fact that I eventually need to get a new Xbox 360 to replace my four year old Elite.

As it turns out, starting May 22 and ending on September 3, I can kill two birds with one stone. With the purchase of a $699+ Windows 7 PC, I can also get a 4 GB Xbox 360 on the house of Microsoft.

Awesome? I think so.

Not to mention convenient timing as well, with the latest bout of PS3 issues, and most college students love for gaming, maybe this will motivate the last few who haven’t seen the green light to reach out and grab it.

To get the deal you need to either provide a Student ID with your purchase at retailers such as Best Buy, or have an .edu e-mail address if your completing the purchase online. Now where are they giving away Windows Phone 7′s?

Microsoft is starting a new ad campaign with the new ads starting to run from tonight onward on ABC, NBC, and CBS. Although Todd Bishop from GeekWire had the news this morning we were waiting for any actual video of the ad to show up before sharing with you.

Well thanks to Todd we have that video which see Julie coming home to find a mini Microsoft store now occupying two rooms of her house.

Yup that’s the gag line for these ads it seems. The real life people, Julie was part of a Microsoft focus group, has someone in the family help Microsoft transform part of their home into a mini Microsoft store which they then get a tour of and get to pick the computer that they like the best.

The idea behind the ad run apparently is to get people to upgrade those old machines around their homes to newer and better Windows 7 powered machines.

I’ll leave it up to you as to whether this is yet another Microsoft ad campaign that will get them more ridicule than anything else. Me, I’m still undecided and will wait until more of the ads are unveiled.
