Over the weekend I ran across a discussion thread on Google Buzz that really pissed me off no-end as people with absolutely no clue as to what Windows Phone 7 Series will actually end up working like or if the marketplace would work for developers. All this without any solid reference points beyond what has been presented at a couple of conferences.
This is the short form of where it started at
You can view the full thread (as long as you don’t mind want to hit someone or something at some point) by clicking this link.
So it was nice to come across a post by Jamie Riddell over at The Next Web where he presented a reasonable case for why he thought that the Windows Phone 7 Series was going to be a success. There was no stupid ass fanboi crap or innuendos as his points went like this.
- Tiles – From the get go, this just looks better
- Hub Strategy – The Hub strategy is core for Windows Phone 7 and it makes a lot of sense
- Sexy Apps, Lots of Apps – It’s all about the apps (and they are coming)
- Games – Did I mention full on XBox action on your phone
- A Great App Marketplace – The new market interface is better but still hard to find stuff
- Email – Support for not just Exchange but all other major email providers
- Mesh – Finally
In his post Jamie provides fleshed out reasons for his points and are well worth reading. For me it was just nice to see a fair and balanced viewpoint.
