cat_coffeeWelcome to another round-up.  It seems the Coffee Shop is the place to hang out lately, when we’re not ducking shoe throwers, that is.  At least, until Ron threw a math problem at us.  (I agree with EricH on this one.)  After our collective head recovered from the pain, we got double-whammied with a posting from HelloKit.  While that post made us smile, this one made us wonder.  Why?  Why would a group of people get together and do such a thing?  *shrug*

Hey, I’m don’t know if you’ve ever tried but can you spot a trannie?  If that’s got you going bonkers, try this link out.  (Make sure you’ve got your headphones handy.)  Once you’ve finished with that, light up those matches!  It’s time for a good old fashion hunt!  We’s gonna shoot us some musical folk.

And just because I haven’t mentioned him yet, we hope you heal quickly Joe.  He had a minor operation to remove an unused part of his body.  (Did I mention that he’s single?)  All seems to have went well but he isn’t gonna be singing or dancing too much for a little while.

Over in the Cool Links section we find …. frozen sausage!  Ok, not really.  But its the next best thing:  commonly misspleed words.  Give it a go and see how well you do, smarty pants!  Infinidean posted a link to a great site that tests your visualization and duplication skills.  Tougher than it looks.  (Hint, do a search for “Time Waster” in the forums, you’ll find tons more of these great sites.)  In the mean time, are you ready for the world to end in 2012?  Yeah, me neither.  I mean, if those guys were so smart, why’d they disappear?

It’s good to have ya all back.  There’s been quite a few posts over in the forums and some of them are actually computer related.  We’ll get to those in a minute.  First I’d like to offer up our collective respects to Betty Page.  She was the stuff of a young boy’s day dreams when I was a kid.  She put the bad in the phrase bad-girls.

Betty Page, died at age 85.  She will be remembered by generations of boys (of all ages) for years to come.  *sniff*  (Sadly, Arnie had no cloo who she was.  He was subsequently shamed into a respectful silence.)

He shoots but no score.  He shoots again and there goes Maliki for the block!  Denied!  Bush is saved from the flying shoe by a fellow leader.

Our DLF Joe is all excited because the temperatures have warmed up a bit.  From -8 F to -5 F.  What a wimp!  Better get a jacket, Joe, it’s a cold world out there.  ;)

PJ on the WinExtra ForumsIt’s the first of December!  Christmas is coming and the feel of presents is in the air.  Boy do I love this time of year.  Can’t wait to see what everyone gets or gives or even see how they celebrate, if at all.

Within the WinExtra family we have our own gift giving place called the forums.  We pass words of love and wisdom back and forth like little periods of acid or sentences of cocaine.  Wow, what a mind-blowing family!  With that in mind, we all would like to shout out to Kim, Steven’s better half, and wish her a very happy and merry birthday.  Keeping within the Coffee Shop we have a doozy of a post from Dontor.  Be prepared to reminisce about the times of old.  There’s also news of a first in commercial shipping.  What a shame but facinating all the same.

We’ve seen this one before but it never fails to generate a great deal of fun.  In Cool Links we get to have a go at creating creative (as opposed to evolutionary) church signs.  It’s a contest.  Have at it.  Absurdity is highly prized.  While you’re at it, check out this post.  It shows how easily your brain can be fooled.  Thanks to Nate for that one.  That was followed up by these two posts (Thing 1 and Thing 2) that have kept the folks in stitches.  *nods to ChadMan*

Once again, the Joke Corner has not failed to keep us giggling.  Of all the gut splitters, the best has got to be this one.  In one fell swoop, this gal has insulted the entire human race.  She’s insulted the Americans by being American and the rest of the world for being an American.  Heaven help us all.  On the adult side of things, this joke brightened my day.

For those of you with a penchant for flame-fests, the Cage is currently wallowing in posts filled with wails of doom, desperation and economic devastation, rather like Dante’s fourth circle of Hell.  I think Billy rather nicely sums it up in this post.

Hardware News & InformationSolid State Drives.  Come on!  Ya guys are killing me, already!  I wants one.

Security News & InformationBotHunterThe US Army has gone cyber.

On a personal note, I’ve been having problems with my computer.  Its a daily use computer but I do tend to use it for Battlefield 2 almost every day.  Lately I’ve been having lag problems.  You can find the specifics here, in the Hardware Help section.  Please, take a moment, read and help me with this problem.  Billy, on the other hand, is looking for solutions with a hard drive problem.  He needs all the help he can get.

And that, my kind readers, brings us to the end of another broadcast day.  I hope you have a great one!

We had a relatively subdued but good week in the forums.  Nobody died in the flame fests and everyone seems reasonably sane, still.  Mrs. Max has decided to return to our flock, welcome back.

The Brits have a happy group of folks called the BNP.  First I’d heard of them.  Apparently they aren’t so happy anymore since their membership list leaked.  *covers mouth*  Oppps.  I don’t think they’re gonna get a Mulligan on that one.

I don’t know which is worse, the BNP matter or the NASA astronaut that decided to dump her tools in space.  Kinda reminds me of this poster.  I thought astronauts were supposed to have it all together, even under pressure and in outer space.  *sigh*  And that could have been my paycheck….

You know Joe, the guy that answers all his own questions?  (Yeah, the one man conversationalist that likes to take it to the Internet….)  (And also probably the only guy that reads this.)  He had a question about digital picture frames.  I was able to answer it.  Imagine that.  :)   Some others answered it as well.  Turns out they’re all technophobes.  Wimps!

Imagine having to make someone else walk by controlling their legs.  Easy you think?  Check this out.  It ain’t so easy-peasy.

Billy’s always good for a post, or two.  Well, he brought us this link.  Read it.  Well worth it.

He also brings us this link to a map that renames the US states with a nation’s name.  Sounds dumb but it’s not.  It also used up Billy’s quota of good links.

Now for something completely different…..

Nate’s in a tither.  He finally figured out the folks that make up the US government really suck at educational matters.  Why should we be surprised?  Those that forget the past are bound to repeat it.  Say it with me:  Vietnam….  Iraq.  Great Depression….  This isn’t a recession.  Bush the elder….  Bush the junior.

Over in the Joke Corner, Ron was on quite a roll.  Then someone took a joke a bit too seriously.  Then Pierre, our human calculator, jumped in and saved the day with a shooting spree of hilarious images.  It seems that humor knows no boundaries.  Almost.  With the exception of one person.  That likes to take jokes seriously.  (Just kidding….)  :P   With that, I’m just going to point you in the general direction of the Picture & Graphics Corner.  There are a couple of posts over there that are worth looking at.  Turns out that a couple of the folks in our family are budding photogs.  Oh, and Billy has doomed all of society to hell.  Well, okay, he just pointed out that we’re doomed, he’s not really at fault.  This time.

Slipping sideways into The Cage, I’d like to mention that my comment in this post is related to a comment I made in this post (reply number 33).  In my former life, we secretly called her “The Dragon Lady.”  She deserved it.

This post went virtually un-noticed.  Shame because it heralds the arrival of, well, read the post.  Thanks moosepucky.  I want one.  Looking to transcode?  ChadMan brings us this post about transcoding.  Don’t worry, it’s work safe and no, you won’t have to get a sex change.

“And that’s all there is – there isn’t any more.”

Have a great day!

It took a bit but with enough beer, I was able to get through the elections.  I hope things went just as well for you all.  What with all of the telephone calls from the pollsters, I was ready to jump off a bridge….  Thanks to my higher power, there’s beer to help work through such irritants.  Oh, and the WinExtra forums too.

Lots of chit-chat going on over in the Coffee Shop.  I’m not a big blues fan but I really enjoy good musicians, whatever the style or instrument.  XCarlosX brings us this link to a pretty good guitar player.

We were all deeply saddened by Michael Crichton’s death.  We hope he enjoys the next chapter in this great book of life that he gets to write.

Speaking of chapters….  Chapters are usually enumerated.  I hate numbers.  They confuse me.  Why, oh why, does there always have to be one more than what ever number you have?  Infinity is just so forever….  Well, my ship has come in.  This link proves that counting isn’t all that it’s made out to be.  I am vindicated.  Finally.  Got some time?  Waste it here.  ’nuff said.

Meanwhile, back at the pagan farm.  There’s a lively discussion on Halloween.  Entertaining.  To say the least.

If that’s not far enough out there for you, check out the discussion on the Phoenix Mars lander going into cryostasis.

Speaking of cryostasis, does the weather interest you at all?  Check out this post for a chance to participate in weather measurements.

To top everything off, ChadMan brings us this wonderful video about Cooties.  Get some!

In a strange turn of events, Billy’s not only lost his virginity, his house is attempting to screw him too.  We wish you luck bud!  (Some guys just can’t get a break….)

Over in the Cool Links section Billy brings us this awesomely bacony flavored post.  To go with that, there’s another post for a wonderful time waster.  Pierre, our resident massively parallel human processor, gave us a post to the first direct pictures of Exoplanets.  Waayyy too cool.  ChadMan countered with a most hilarious video about self-cleaning toilets.  It’s enough to make a girl cry!

Speaking of crying girls.  The Cage has been full of a bunch of political posts lately.  Too many to enumerate.  With my recent attempts at truncating my digits with a framing hammer, I’m afraid to even try and count.  So, I’ll just point you towards my favoritest post of them all:  10 people with unbelievable medical problems.  Thanks ChadMan, you really know how to make a person feel better about themselves.

Down in the Hardware Help section, Joe asks for input on speakers for his HDTV.  After a bit of a lag, he answers himself.  We laugh.  Dontor, on the other hand, is buying a server and looking for input.  I think he’s spot on already.  HelloKit brings us good news about her haunted computer.  Turns out it was haunted.  A brief exorcism by the local priest and all is well once again.  Too bad she already bought a new motherboard….  Meanwhile, ChadMan gets his rant on about repairing laptops.  Psst, ChadMan, laptops are meant to be replaced, not repaired.  Save your karma for stuff that really counts.

Crawling down to the Software Help section, Joe asks a question about Windows update and WGA.  Pierre gets all internet karate on him and cuts him off at the knees before he can answer himself.  Kung Fu Panda ain’t got nothing on Pierre who is now being upgraded to a massively parallel knee-chopping-off internet karate killer.  Beware, it’s Pierre, the Internet Ninja!  This last post from ChadMan brings us to one of my favorite freeware programs.  The post brings up a larger question, however.  One of how to collect links to all of these gems together into one post and then keep it updated.  We’d like your input so stop on by and add in your two cents.

Until next time, Have a Great Day!

Two days to go until the elections.  Ok, ’nuff said about that crap.

The forums have been in a bit of a lull this week.  Herr Mann Steven is finally nailing down the last of the intransigent little bugs after making the server switch.  I’m guessing he’ll probably not do that again.  From what we’ve been hearing in the forums, Steven’s silvering hair is quickly disappearing due to the abnormally high amounts of stress and hair pulling behavior he’s been suffering. We wish him the best.  Well, ok, a bottle of Rogain too.

One of the better posts this week was one of Steven’s (yeah, a little kiss-up never hurts) relating to RSS feeds.  Check it out and learn the who, what, why and where of RSS.  The post links right back to the blog but it’s worth following the link.

This post didn’t get much attention but I certainly liked it.  Ever have a website just not work for you and left you wondering if its just you or your system?  Well, Is it just me gives us a link to a site that lets you check it out.  Is it really just you or is it down for everyone?  (Is it paranoia if the site really doesn’t work only for you?)

I think folks are burned out on the candidate stuff because The Cage has been unusually quiet this week.  That, or Chadman’s been on holiday.

Surprisingly, Nate has come out of the closet, offering up free Pron over in the Test Area.  Needless to say, that caught some of us by surprise.  Nice post Nate, keep it up!

Over in Hardware Help Billy’s finally let on that he got some sex last week.  You see, a real nerd never gets his computer wiring wrong.  While putting together his mother board, Billy fubar’d his all up and couldn’t get his USB to work.  Nice to see that even nerds can lose their virginity.  ;P

Finally, moving down to the Software Help section, Pierre posts a question about Adobe Photoshop Elements.  Pierre almost admits to reaching the limits of his vast capabilities by using IrfanView.  The world was stunned and for a moment, everything stopped.  Then we realized he was kidding.  There is a God.

With that, I bid you “Have a Great Day!”
