FeedDemon returns to indie developer – Nick Bradbury

2

feeddemon1 Most folks who are familiar with FeedDemon, an RSS client, will remember when Newsgator originally bought it from its author Nick Bradbury and brought him on board as part of the package to keep working on it. Between then and now we have seen FeedDemon being released as a free program and then during the version 3 development cycle saw it switch to being ad supported.

Well some interesting news on that front as I found out today.

Over on my social media related blog Shooting at Bubbles I posted an interview that I did with Nick and his thoughts on RSS, social media, and FeedDemon. In the interview Nick revealed for the first time that he no longer works at Newsgator and that FeedDemon although still owned by Newsgator has been returned to his control. The announcement came in relation to my question about FeedDemon being ad supported.

What we haven’t mentioned before (yes, you’re reading it here first) is that I’m no longer employed by NewsGator.  FeedDemon remains a NewsGator-branded product, but I’m 100% in charge of it now, and I’m once again an indie developer.  FeedDemon is my sole focus – and my sole source of income. Given that so many people find the idea of paying for software to be alien, having ads ensures that I can earn a living.

You can read the whole interview over at Shooting at Bubbles.
