Microsoft Security Essentials: One more thing Microsoft gets right.

Microsoft gets a lot of flack for its software but as with Windows 7 their newly released Microsoft Security Essentials is in my opinion a great product. I have been using it since the first beta came available and haven’t regretted it.

Security Essentials is extremely light on resources, it doesn’t flood you with notifications after notifications, and tied in with the improved Windows 7 firewall it does a good job of protecting you. Yes the more security minded power users out there might not like it all that much but that isn’t who Microsoft is trying to get to use this program.

Instead Microsoft is targeting all those millions of users out there who just want to install some good protection and forget about it. They don’t want all those notifications. they don’t want to be reminded all the time about updating definition files. They don’t want to have to always be reminded about their subscription running out.

They just want it to work – and Security Essentials does just that.

So if you haven’t already been using the beta release of the security program I feel safe in suggesting this as a good alternative for you to use. New users and beta users just need to head over to the Microsoft Security Essential page and download version 1.0 of the program.
