Valve’s Steam On-line Store Starting To Promote Linux – To Windows Users
When Steam first announced that they were considering support of Linux for their gaming platform the geek heartbeats beat a little faster. Then came Valve CEO Gabe Newell’s famous snarky comment about how much of a disaster Windows 8 and that Steam was solidly behind the Linux platform.
Since that point we have started to see some games showing up on the online game store with support for Linux; with Steam’s stating that thousands of Linux users are now onboard. Even though the program is still in beta Steam has an interesting little bit of a tease up their sleeve to get new testers for the Linux program.
As you can see by the image above they are going after Windows users and encouraging them to switch to Linux and even provide a download link to Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
I have to admit the offer is funny and definitely a shot at Windows; but I don’t seriously believe that Windows gamers will take Steam up on the offer, nor will newcomers either in my opinion.
Still, it’s funny and you gotta give them a “E” for effort.
