This news really isn’t that much of a surprised but Microsoft announced today that as of July 11, 2011 the Games for Windows Marketplace will be merged with Xbox.com. This of course is pretty well in line with the news that came out of this year’s E3 event that Microsoft would be bringing Xbox LIVE to our Windows desktop.

There is also talk that Xbox LIVE will be the entertainment and gaming service that will be an integral part of Windows 8 when it launches.

The following was included in the Games for Windows newsletter

Games for Windows® is moving to Xbox.com in July. Get the latest Games for Windows–LIVE exclusives, best-selling PC titles, great casual games, and incredible deals. Our new design on Xbox.com will let you easily find your favorite games, and our updated newsletter design is a sneak preview of things to come.

Now, the only question remaining is – what about Zune?
