"We shall attempt to answer it in this book," he wrote. "Unlike the answer given in 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy,' ours won't be simply '42.'" ---great quote!
I would give up a limb to sit and talk with that man, seriously. Every time he speaks, he says something interesting.

I don't know that every time he speaks he says something interesting but I can easily agree that every time he speaks, he says it in an interesting way.

I would like to talk to Hawkings and get his reason as to why God is not needed. If I get the chance I want to read his book. I know he is a very intelligent man, but this last comment does not show that. How can something be made be made from nothing? That does not seem logical.

Your definition of logic from your standpoint, perhaps. Your understanding of the world is faith-based, and I doubt a conversation with Mr Hawking would convince you to release your hold on something you've held for your entire life, and hold all the more tightly now, for your own reasons.
Oh yeah, good to see you around.

You know, pretty much the subject at hand? Why did a conscientious intelligent being "have" to have to made it all? Couldn't it just "be" without the presence of thought? Does it really all exist just for us?
Heaven forbid god is not all omnipotent and is bound by the laws the made the uni/multiverse(s)and where god is a creation of that reality instead of vice versa? God might have rules he has to follow too.
The knowledge of everything we know has evolved yet religion remains mired in literal personal translations. Often twisted to suit ones own view of things. Most often supporting those of "authority" interestingly enough.
I find it so strange the bible makes no mention of the sphere we're on traveling through the heavens as we know it now to be. That the evidence so plain before our eyes that the world is round and is not the center and yet knowledge is forbidden lest it contradict god.
Why does something have to either be made from nothing or by an intelligent being? Couldn't it just be without a purpose?
