I got one of these http://www.daskeyboard.com/model-s-professional/ They also make silent switch keyboards but I have used an alps switch keyboard for so long I don't think I could handle the quiet of a non switch keyboard. I thought about getting their unmarked keyboard but figured the wife uses my workstation sometimes and she would have a fit with a keyboard without any markings http://www.daskeyboard.com/model-s-ultimate/

I have have not purchased a new keyboard in over 25 years so I figure it is about time to see what is out there to entice me to put away my trusty old Omni Key 101.

I bought one of these for my HTPC. Has a multi-touch keypad that works pretty good with MyMovies for Media center navigation.

Unfortunately they don't make it with the French layout (I asked), otherwise I'd have added some red to my bank account a while ago…

I'd go for the silent model, though. My wife hates it when she can hear me typing while she's watching TV – or reading (we have a very small flat).

I bought an ergo Omni Key when Northgate closed 15 years ago. I did not like it that much. Too used to the regular keyboard design I guess. Not to mention that it was about 1/2" too wide to fit on my desk

Looks like they have an EU, German and UK model...

The funny thing is, they have distinct pictures for the UK and EU "Ultimate" models (the ones with no markings)

I might threaten them with a discrimination lawsuit, at that. As long as they make a distinct model for one country (actually, two: UK and Germany) in addition to the "one size fits all" EU model, they have a legal obligation to make models for every other European layout…

Well, I broke down and bought another MS Ergonomic 4000 keyboard. On sale at Office Depot for 29.99 until Sept. 5th, or so. While it may not have the engraved keys and gold switches, it does wonders on my fingers and wrists. I've been using a regular Dell keyboard for about three weeks, ever since I spilled coffee on my last ergonomic keyboard. Certain parts of my left wrist were starting to hurt a bit and after a long session of coding yesterday I couldn't type for more than about 20-30 minutes before it felt like my hands were going to seize up. I've got to start hitting Ctrl - C and Ctrl - V with a different combination of fingers. I have never followed the recommendation of using the right side Ctrl key to work with the left side of the keyboard with that particular combination and I think I'm starting to pay for it.

Get yourself a 3M wrist rest. I've had one for the past 25 years and I've not had any wrist problems. I am on the keyboard 8-10 hours a day.

I have worn out 2 and am on my 3rd one (the covering on it is worn off and I am down to the gel envelope now). I have one more replacement gel block then I will have to start looking for something else as they have not made the WR510 model in over 10 years.

I'm pretty sure it's due to the Dell keyboard I used at work for a couple of years. Have you ever seen the keyboards they send with their systems if you don't select a better option? Tiny, tiny, tiny. They force you hands into a claw like state so you can reach the keys. I never had any problems so I didn't even think about it when I purchased the system. The same thing happened to a coworker using the same kind of Dell keyboard. I got her the same ergonomic keyboard and her problems went away as well.

The only keyboard I have ever owned is the Northgate Omni Key model 101 (first and last keyboard purchased... well I did buy an omni key ergo when Northgate was closing out their inventory when they went out of business but I never used it as it is too wide to fit on my desk). I've always had a 3M WR510 platform under the 101. I have never had any issues typing all day long everyday of the week.

Before the Omni Key 101 I used a Televideo 970 terminal which had a bucking spring keyboard (exactly like the old IBM model M units). The 970 had an elongated wrist rest built into it. Before the 970 I used a Telvideo 910 and before the 910 I had an old converted teletype terminal.
