Only for Twits? My time near a twitter-capable device each day is measured in minutes, so I've never bothered to use it.
Kinda elitist, don't you think?

Well not really I expect that iolo want to use twitter because they can easily track the tweets and hopefully it will hit the top ten list (or whatever it is that twitter uses)
I wouldn't be so harsh on Steve either, as I suspect iolo set the rules and Steve is also trying to get his brand out there, and if this is successful for him he might turn a few .com type executive heads his way.
as I said in the post - leaving a comment on the announcement post will count as well. As much as I may cringe at the thought of a "Twitter" contest the fact is that it is a big driver of traffic - which means that anything done these days on blogs in this area means utilizing Twitter in some fashion or another.
But don't use Twitter then just leave a comment on the announcement post
Indeed, Garry. Life has been getting increasingly harsh on me. I let it get the better of me some days.
I apologize, Steven.
s'kay Billy
I will say that iolo technologies did leave the details of the contest to me but they did mention that they would appreciate some sort of "social media" angle to it.
And yes it has helped after a fashion as I have already had a review request from Acronis come though the blog contact page.
The thing about reviews though is that they don't show any immediate jumps in pageviews but they can end up being gold in the more long term Long Tail search results. The advantage of things like the Twitter/comments based contests is that it does help with the more immediate pageviews.
Personally I prefer the Long Tail search traffic but unfortunately one has to play the game.
