The drive that went bad was seagate but I bought it on 10/12/2006 refurb, I have no complaints. I probably could format and still use it but I don't feel like going thru this whole getdataback dance again if I'm wrong.Dawn

Probably this is why they're offloading them that cheap… OTOH, I've got one 750GB Seagate 7200.11, whose firmware I updated according to the instructions on the Seagate site before it went bad, and it's been spinning (not continuously) with no problems for over a year now.

You know that 2 of them make a raid 1 array
I use 2 barracuda (1 tb) in an external USB raid 1 enclosure with slide out drive trays.
