I recently added a new laser printer into my lan. Every time I tried to insatll it using the install disk, it would fail, uninstall it's failed install, and wipe out my print spooler and hence all other printers installed on the pc. Had to do a system restore to a day before to take care of that.
I need the other printer in question, so removing it was not an option.
I tried that MS Mr. Fix it. Made sure print spooler was started and set to automatic. Still kept getting print spooler error.
So, I installed just a basic generic print drivers and did so to LTP1. Then I went into the printer properties, port, and changed ltp1 to the assigned ip addy of the new printer. Works like a champ.
Thought I'd post this in case one of you runs into something like this. Bit "out of the box" way of doing something.

Thanks for the tip
I've found that some network printers don't install properly as network printers. The trick is to install them as local and non-P&P, but point them to an IP port (which you can create on the fly, BTW). I don't know why it works, but it works, and that's what counts.

I may try that so I can get the full use of the printer. Really, only need scan once in awhile. Usefull at that station, but not necessary.
