First the important stuff and then the reason.
Starting Monday morning do not post anything to the forums at any point after 11AM (EST). I will notify everyone (hopefully within at least a couple of hours) when posting can resume.
Now for the reason.
It's pretty simple really but Mike (my hosting provider) has gone above and beyond the call of duty (not to mention expense) to get a brand spanking new Linux server installed at the datacenter. While he is doing this with a mind to future business (ie: Wordpress and other native PHP stuff) I will have it pretty well to myself for my hosting needs - which obviously includes WinExtra
Now I have been testing the move from a WinServer to the new Linux one using my other sites as guinea pigs and have pretty well got everything working fine. Tomorrow I'll be moving Shooting at bubbles over as the real major test next to the move of WinExtra.
The only reason I am asking for no posting is that we can't be guaranteed some posts won't get lost in the ether if you do try and sneak one in.
I will post just before the move starts as a reminded and then once more when the move is completed and you can all resume being the chatty people that you are.
Just as a last note .. the main reason for the move to a Linux server is that this is the natural working environment for PHP based software such as Wordpress. Most of t he software is optimized for that in mind. It will work on WinServers (better now than in the past) but it will work better in Linux.
Oh and if you are curious and want to see if there is any "noticeable" difference between Wordpress on a Windows Server in contrast to a Linux server you can check out http://www.braincellsoup.com as it has made the move over
WinExtra / Shooting at Bubbles / Braincell Soup
