word formatting, are binaries allowed or will there be groups later for that?

This seems like such a simple question that I wanted to ask my friends here before I ventured out into usenet and the ms-word group.

I'm retyping a document.
I'll type an example below instead of attaching an example. (are binaries allowed in the groups here, or will binary groups be set up later?)
This is the way I want it to look. However, how do I do it in word without doing manual returns? I know nothing about using tab stops, etc.

I need to keep up my reputation. I'm wondering if using columns might work. I'll give that a try. $:-\$

Regarding binaries ...

With this new setup I see no reason why not to allow attachments in with the original post. This setup doesn't cause the same drain on peoples connections the way the nntp groups did.

My reputation is intact.

I did quite a bit of googling, what I found was that you really cannot move between columns when inserting text without going all the way to the bottom and having the text start in the 2nd column. i.e., you can't just type in column 1, then move over and type in column 2 very easily.

I found a suggestion (which is working so far) to use a table to accomplish the same thing.

Except now that got me to thinking. It seems to me that someone once said that Word doesn't do tables all that well and if one is going to use tables or columns, Excel might be a better bet. Am I hallucinating? or is that true?

I've attached what I've done so far. It's not ideal, but it's pretty much what I want.
Using Excel is a PITA IMO.

I would suggest put the student information above the table so you have the full width of the page to fill it in. Then use the table for the evaluation

I would suggest doing this with Excel, since it is far quicker and easier to manage. I did the same thing in only a minute or two. (attachment here, rename it as XLS)

Word handles table quite well. It's columns that don't work too well, unless things have been corrected in Office 2007.

I renamed it joe.xls. I saved it, however when I clicked Open it said the data was corrupt. I clicked on repair, it said it was so corrupt it couldn't be recovererd. (or some such wording like that)

Yes Joe.. there seems to be a rather large issue with binary attachments in the groups... some of them seem to get funky somehow... will investigate, find nothing, and make Steven find out why
