George Méliès is known to have made about 500 movies, all of them around 10 minutes long. After he fell from public favor (the period pictured in Scorcese's movie), he destroyed all his original copies out of spite. So far, only about 300 have been restored from copies found in bits and pieces all over the world. Restoring "Le voyage dans la Lune" was a 10 year long project. The original copies were hand-colored (at 18 frames a second, imagine the labor), as were many of Méliès' masterpieces.
Procrastinate NOW!
