Talk about a coincidence. I've been working in the attic for the past couple of weeks. I started out cutting new soffit vents because my house only had about 10 all the way around. I added about 16 more. Next, I started on the radiant barrier. I got about 1,000 sq feet of radiant barrier installed with about 2,000 more to go. I hope to knock this out Saturday. I resealed the ducts at the air conditioner last year, but I didn't check the entire run from the AC to the rooms and I found some leaks so I"m going to seal them and re-insulate them starting this evening. Once all that is done I'm going to blow in insulation.
Here's a nice tip I got - in the morning, around 6:30 or before the sun starts coming up put sprinklers on your roof. On Saturday I didn't do it and by 11 AM my attic was up to 105 F. The next day I had some help coming over so I put them up to spare them the hell like heats. By the same time the attic temp was only 89 F - cooler than outside
