Yeah, Pierre just forgot about the pain. Nerve switchboard couldn't handle both tasks at once.

Perhaps it was't the oily part of the salve but the steroids and topical anesthetic it contained that provided the relief?

Men Much More Interested Than Women in Casual Sex

A survey of 860 college students discovered - brace yourself - that men are more likely than women to report having had casual sex, and they express a greater desire for it than do women.

ummm then who are they having sex with?

No, no, no!! Don't put butter on a burn - it holds the heat in and causes more damage. Put cold water or ice on the burn to cool it down. I've done that "hot glass" trick too. Many years ago when I was a lab tech I grabbed a very, very hot test tube and burned all my fingers very badly.

That's exactly how it happened to me, too – and also many years ago. Are you sure you weren't living in Paris at the time? <img src="http://www.winextra.com/forums/my-plugins/smiley-choice/Default Smiley/icon_twisted.gif" title=":twisted:" class="bb_smilies" />

Anyway, after cooling the burn with cold water, the lab's nurse did put an oily salve on it, and it eased the pain considerably.

Well, item #3 isn't that far off: spreading oil or butter on a burn will ease the pain. I can tell you that from first-hand experience (as well as the fact that hot glass looks the same as cold glass <img src="http://www.winextra.com/forums/my-plugins/smiley-choice/Default Smiley/icon_wink.gif" title=";)" class="bb_smilies" /> )

A few things "everyone" knew in my childhood and somewhat beyond:
1. Swimming right after eating could cause cramps and lead to drowning;
2. Tuberculosis should be treated by exposing patients to plenty of sunshine;
3. The best treatment for burns is to spread butter or other oil on the burn;
4. The cure for stomach ulcers is to avoid stress and many foods;
5. Homosexuality in males is caused by the way their mothers nurtured them; and
6. The common cold and some other diseases can be caused by exposure to cold;

Some of the studies in the article were fairly obvious but the researchers were able to provide actual numbers which made the information useful.

And science has discovered the real location of your memory. No, it is not in your brain. After exhaustive research, they concluded it is in your posterior. Offered as proof is that when you stand up to do something, you forget what it was you were going to do. When you sit down, you remember what it was you were going to do when you stood up.
