You'll notice that the one thing that definitely didn't make the transition were your avatars that you were using in the SMF powered forums.

With the bbPress powered forums it uses a lot of the same functions that Wordpress does and one of those is the use of the Gravatar service to provide your avatar to all the blogs and forums that use the service.

To use the Gravatar service just sign up here - http://en.gravatar.com/ upload the avatar you want to use and associate it with the same email address that you used to sign up here.

I'm not sure how immediate the service is but once it clicks and you keep using the same email address in your profile your avatar will automatically display - even if you change it in your Gravatar account.

I can't find anything on how to do this. I know it has been talked about at some point, but I didn't want to post them then. Could you please make it a sticky either here, or in bbpress, or somewhere?
Joe

Steven Hodson on "What are Tags?"

One of the new things you'll notice with bbPress is the different places where you will see Tags. Primarily you will notice the Tag 'lists' in the sidebar area and the text box area under where you enter in your post.

First to explain for those not familiar with the idea of what Tags are for. This comes from the blogging world where tags are a way to group posts with similar ideas or information. By adding a tag, or tags, to a post you are creating a way to easily find similar topics.

The same idea can apply in forums as well. For example this post could have the tags: tags, search, conversation. Now as other people write posts that relate to Tags that can add the the same or similar tags to their post. This way when someone click on the 'Tags' item in the tag cloud in the sidebar all the posts with that tag will be displayed.

It takes a while to get use to using tags, and no you don't have to add them to your posts, but they can be very handy as they are used over time.
