Pursuit Horizon, Or The Best Road Trip In The World

I just came across this watching Leo Laporte’s Triangulation show on his Twit network and was instantly envious.

You see Pursuit Horizon is the ongoing blog adventure of filmmaker Zack Settewongse and Amanda Pollard (motorcycle parts tech) as they rider two motorcycles in an exploration of the United States.

The idea is to create a film documentary of their travels and the people that they meet along the way but unlike “most” road trip documentaries these two are doing it with no support crew and “no luxury”. Then each day they plan on pulling into a Starbucks to recharge the batteries; both mental and gadgets, while they post a blog update of their journey and then once a week a short video of the trip.

(You can help out by the way by donating directly to their Starbucks account – Send a Starbucks eGift to: Starbucks@PursuitHorizon.com – I tried to donate guys but Starbucks doesn’t allow non-US PayPal donations [WTF Starbucks?])

As they showed Leo on the show they are decked out with some rather cool film making and recording gadgets or as they write:

The two will be carrying a total of six cameras, microphones, JOBY tripods, and editing and blogging gear on their motorcycles. Normally just a trip like this with just the essential gear means packing light. With all the electronics the two won’t have much in the way of comfort. What they will have is a break from the daily grind and a new horizon in front of them daily.

I know that I’ll be following their journey and if you want to do the same check out their blog, “Like” them on Facebook or circle them on Google+

Rock On Zeke and Amanda; and know you’ve got one envious Canuck following along even if digitally.
