Touchskin Is Heading To Car Manufacturers And Your Car Console [Video]
While the Touchskin technology, or rather technologies, has been on display since last October, Magna; the company that brings it altogether, is finally shopping it to car manufacturers and is looking to transform what we think the center console in our cars should look, and act like.
The idea is that rather than a bunch of buttons and knobs populating that valuable center space around the gearshift there would be a smooth, and self-healing, Clearmelt panel and then on either side of the shifter would be the IDMP area which is where your mobile phone could sit, and get recharged at the same time.
At the rear of the panel would be the haptic interface, or rather a protuberance that responds to numerous fingertip gestures that would control various systems in the car.
Here is a video outlining the production of Touchskin and how it is expected to work.
