Svetlana Gladkova over at Profy.com had an interesting post show up yesterday that I found rather interesting. According to some Cisco data that has been published it would appear that customers are more trusting of online merchants than they are of the ones in their own cities. Whether it be anything from the checkout experience being dismal to finding out that the product that they wanted is out of stock.

Svetlana likens it all to the fact that we are getting spoiled by the online shopping experience and are disappointed when it doesn’t translate to real life.

Jason over on webomatica had a post today talking about the on going financial mess in the U.S. and how he keeps here the deleveraging word; which he says in finacial terms means companies fleeing from debt and getting into cold hard assests. For the tech type individual he suggests that it might also be time for some homestyle deleveraging of his own. This means dealing with stuff like DRM’d entertainment files and his personal data that is strewn around the web.

Some interesting thoughts from Jason Falls from over at Social Media Explorer as he looks back over the conferences he been to in the last little while; and to the road forward. It strikes him that wil all this self-involvement that comes from going to conferences about the very profession you are a part of tends to put us in a smaller echo chamber. As beneficial as they might be they are doing anything to advance the social media sector and that maybe the time is right to start stepping into new areas beyond just social media.

At that point he suggests we might see Social Media move beyond its current confines.

We all really really hate spam. Hell, we hate it so much that we could use capital letts for the word SPAM. That doesn’t change the fact thoough that it keeps on coming and the scumbuckets that spread this electronic pollution are the ones who are the quickest to use new technology; software or otherwise, to spread even more SPAM. Well Jonathan Bailey over at Blog Herald had the pleasure of letting us know that these bottom feeders have indeed found a new tool. While the idea still needs work; or doesn’t depnding on you viewpoint, content generators are getting better and better. Whether it be by spinning or ghostwriting they are working on perfecting their methods and we get to curse the fruits of their labors.Similar Posts:

Just a bit of a note about what I use to to call From The Pipeline posts which I tried to do every night with stuff that I had found during the day on FriendFeed. I’ve decided to revamp the idea to be more of a short form blog post with snippets of thoughts about other blogger’s posts that I have read during the day. I am doing this because I began to feel that just doing one line link type posts of things already on FriendFeed was narrowing my focus too much. This way posts that I have read that don’t really spark a full post treatment because of what they are talking about can still be passed as something still worth you having a read and why I might think so. Hopefully this will widen the perspective of things to talk about rather than just repeating links which really doesn’t expand the conversation. So with that here we go ……

This one is a little bit old; if you count a couple of days as being old, but this post from Mark Evans is still one that I have flagged to think about further because he raises some really good points in it. In the post Marks asks what is really a deceptively simple question - What’s In It For Me? - which is directed at social media and Web 2.0 developers.

It is actually a two pronged question that suggests that developers need to really look at their products from the user’s perspective and be willing to admit that the idea really might not be all that terrific. I’m still thinking about this idea.

Just in time for the weekend Jason Calacanis’ non blog email got posted to several blogs and Alan Patrick over at BroadStuff gives it the reality check it deserves. I tried reading it - really I did but gave up after the third or fourth paragraph. Alan notes in an update that the original post has been pulled from Silicon Valley Insider which he says wasn’t really that bad.

Paul Glazowski over at Mashable had a post about how Lawrence Lessig of Creative Commons fame has a book available via Amazon’s Kindle storefront. Besides the obvious humour of a free book on Lessig’s site being made available as a paid download there’s the matter of the Kindle DRM that’s a part of downloading books. Anyone else get the rib tickler here?Similar Posts:

It would seem from the lacks of posts today on WinExtra and the absense of activity on FriendFeed that I have taken a day off. Well, far from it really. I had a bunch of catching up to to do on The Hodson Report and then I got the urge to work on another idea I’ve been tossing around in the back of my head. so in fact between those things and doing some house hold (real life) things I’ve been really busy. However I still did manage to find some things during the few times that I took a break to do some reading and hopefully you’ll find them interesting.

NYT to Google: “That was AMAZING, give me a cigarette!” :: Diary of a Rat - some really good thoughts on the future road ahead should Google get major control of online advertising - more than it already does - and how some major MSM journalists seem to be doing some royal Google ass kissing to get the exclusive behind the scenes info.

The Perils of Multi-Tasking :: Mark Evans - a perfect post on why this idea of multi-tasking our daily lives is just a sham.

Conflicts of Interest and Blogging :: The Inquisitr - this is a must read post from Duncan Riley on being a blogger and possible conflicts of interest we may find ourselves in without even realizing it sometimes.
