I don’t get very excited these days when it comes to reading science fiction (or fantasy) as it seems that authors are more interested in spreading their story over as many trilogies as they possibly can when really a good single book would have been the real winner.
I’ve lost count of the number of books that I’ve started to read but by the second or third installment of some massive tome of pages I’m typically bored to tears or feeling lost in pointlessness of even trying to read anymore. It’s gotten to the point that I don’t even bother anymore picking up a book if there is the slightest hint that it’s the beginning of yet another stupid trilogy.
That said, and like with most things, I have discovered the exception to my own rule and it is a sci-fi series by fellow Canuck (yay!) Randolph Lalonde called Spinward Fringe.
It’s been a very long time since I have stumbled upon a series of books that has so totally captivated me as Lalonde has with his books. Starting with Spinward Fringe Broadcast 0 Origin through to the newest release (which I haven’t read yet) Spinward Fringe Broadcast 7 Framework he has created a universe of characters, worlds, and events that carries you through his books in a way that makes it impossible to walk away from.
So if you are looking for a sci-fi series that will scoop you up and return you to the time when you couldn’t put down what you were reading because you just had to know what was going to happen next then I heartily recommend giving Spinward Fringe a try. I know myself I haven’t enjoyed reading a series in a very long time but Lalonde has caught me in his excellently crafted web to the point I know I am going to hate getting to the last page of the last book.
If you love good sci-fi I honestly don’t think you’ll regret giving Spinward Fringe a try, other than you won’t be able to put it down.
