Did you realize that it has been over 45 years since the original Star Trek grace out television screens and gained a permanent place in the hearts of geeks everywhere?
It’s also bee 45 years since the 1:1 scale Galileo shuttlecraft prop from the show carried our Star Trek heroes into many an adventure; but amazingly one of them has survived and is now being restored.
As you can the past 45 years haven’t been kind to poor old Galileo but thanks to Adam Schneider and Alec Peters, who bought it at an auction, and the talented New Jersey boat restorers Master Shipwrights the Galileo may be getting a second life.
So far there is almost 2,000 man hours of work that has been done and not only will it look good cosmetically but it will also be structurally sound. At this point there is no word as to when the project will be done but the owners hope to put it on display when done for all you trekkies to enjoy.
