Before you get your drool happening be forewarned that this beautiful creation by designer John “Wilhelm” Dunn from the Victorian Steam Calculation Engine Company (love that name) is not cheap but for any true steampunk fan that won’t matter.
The original mod was done on a commission from Sony and is built around their Sony Vaio F Series, which you will have to supply at the cost of between $1,000 to $2,500, to which Dunn applies his eCog mod; which will set you back an additional $1,250.
Like I said this isn’t for cheapskates but you end up with an absolutely gorgeous laptop that includes:
keyboard keys are encircled by solid brass bezels
keys have translucent off-white keycaps which allow the keyboard’s backlighting to show through
larger keys are extended using birch ply veneers
trackpad is surrounded by red fabric wrist rests
a grid of copper and steel “pipes”
gauges (non-functional)
Enough with my blathering. Here’s some more images to tease you with along with a video of this beauty.
