Windows Phone 7′s Internet Explorer browser may not be all that bad

One of the most common concerns I have heard in the lead up to the release of Windows Phone 7 was the fact that it was going to be running a version of Internet Explorer 7. This news garnered a wide variety of comments from around the tech blogosphere, none of which was all that encouraging.

It turns out we may not have that much to worry about as the team over at PocketNow have had serious face time with the browser and they had this to say

The browser of Windows Phone 7 seems to be on the right track. Tab management is super quick (you can even load multiple tabs simultaneously), website load times are competitive with other top smartphone browsers, and panning/scrolling/zooming is ultra smooth. If we can get HTML5 and Flash support in Widows Phone 7 and maintain this level of refinement, IE on WP7 will rock

I guess the proof will be in the pudding, so to speak, but it should also be noted that as Surur at WMPowerusers pointed out:

The browser is also modular, meaning the software can be updated independently, hopefully to IE9 code eventually.

Here’s hoping that what we see in this video courtesy of PocketNow is a good representation of the final product in this regard.
