Gee… was there any Microsoft or windows news today? Oh ya .. something about a whole bunch of reviews about something called Windows Phone 7.

Microsoft:

  • All KIN sales being stopped, being sent back tomorrow (July 18th) – WMExperts
We already know that Verizon and Microsoft have pulled the plug on the whole KIN series (see our review), the question then becomes what to do about existing supplies?
  • Operations Guide For Microsoft Office 2010 – gHacks
Microsoft has released a second Office 2010 guide, after the previously reviewed Getting Started With Microsoft Office 2010 Guide.
  • Device stage again – Steve Clayton
I’ve been a longtime fan of device stage in Windows 7 but I wish more companies took advantage of it. It’s a pleasant surprise when devices do such as the way SonyEricsson has for the U8i phone above.
  • Apple closes in on Microsoft in revenue race – Fortune
After living in the shadows of Microsoft for 30 years, Apple is just a hair behind Microsoft in sales.  Will this quarter be the one?
  • Will HP put the Palmpad and the Windows 7 Slate head to head? – CrunchGear
Palmpad, eh? That sounds nice and could signal a sort-of departure from the normal slate business model. HP might be prepping more than one tablet product line. Perhaps the Windows 7 Slate project isn’t dead after all.

Windows Phone 7:

  • A Windows Phone 7 Milestone – The Windows Blog
I’m very excited to share with this blog community, that our Windows Phone engineering team has hit a very meaningful milestone; one that we’re calling technical preview.
  • Windows Phone 7: Savior, disaster, or somewhere in between? – LiveSide
We’re in the middle of summer here in the Northern Hemisphere, and although it might not feel like it, “this holiday season” is right around the corner.
  • Understanding Multitasking In Windows Phone 7 – manan
This is a blog post that’s been pending for months but since there seems to be quite a bit of misconception around multi-tasking, I think this needs to cleared a bit.
  • Where’s the roadmap for Windows Phone 7? - Ed Bott
The first wave of hands-on previews of Windows Phone 7 are out. If Microsoft is smart, they’re going through those first looks with a fine-tooth comb and planning a series of updates.
  • Microsoft: Bring on the Windows Phone 7 developers, developers developers – Mary Jo Foley
On July 19, Microsoft began shipping out thousands of Windows Phone 7 (WP7) test units from LG and Samsung — running a near-final Technical Preview build of its new mobile operating system — to developers all over the world.
