One would have thought that it being the day after a long weekend in the States that there would have been more news but like yesterday the pickings were pretty slim. Tomorrow though will be different I imagine with everyone pontificating on and on about Steve Jobs and he time on stage at the D8 conference tonight. Oh well on with what was available today.

Microsoft, while excelling in any number of product categories, is literally lost at sea in the tablet wars. News today from Computex has a Microsoft executive claiming that Google will lose the tablet competition to Microsoft’s Windows 7 on slate computers. - Will Best Buy’s Kin price cuts be what the doctor ordered? – Mary Jo Foley
After some staunch criticism from key gadget-centric bloggers and press, the Microsoft Kin platform — launched just less than a month ago — is getting a price cut. - Security upgrades in the new Hotmail – The Windows Blog

- IE6 usage falls below 5% in The US and Europe – StatCounter
Usage of web browser Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) in the US and Europe fell below the 5% mark for the first time in May, according to web analytics company, StatCounter. The firm’s research arm StatCounter Global Stats reports that IE6 US usage has fallen to 4.7% from 11.5% 12 months ago. - Slow IE8 tab load times? Check your add-ins… – Ed Bott
Internet Explorer 8 has a nifty feature that allows you to track the load times for installed browser add-ins. It’s a useful troubleshooting tool when trying to figure out why new tabs take too long to load.
