One would have thought that it being the day after a long weekend in the States that there would have been more news but like yesterday the pickings were pretty slim. Tomorrow though will be different I imagine with everyone pontificating on and on about Steve Jobs and he time on stage at the D8 conference tonight. Oh well on with what was available today.

Microsoft:

Internet Explorer:

  • IE6 usage falls below 5% in The US and Europe – StatCounter
Usage of web browser Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) in the US and Europe fell below the 5% mark for the first time in May, according to web analytics company, StatCounter. The firm’s research arm StatCounter Global Stats reports that IE6 US usage has fallen to 4.7% from 11.5% 12 months ago.
  • Slow IE8 tab load times? Check your add-ins… – Ed Bott
Internet Explorer 8 has a nifty feature that allows you to track the load times for installed browser add-ins. It’s a useful troubleshooting tool when trying to figure out why new tabs take too long to load.

Windows:

  • Windows and Security: Setting the Record Straight – Brandon LaBlanc
There’s been some coverage overnight about the security of Windows and whether or not one particular company is reducing its use of Windows.  We thought this was a good opportunity to set the record straight.  —  There is some irony here that is hard to overlook.
