Well today was the big launch day for Wave 4 of Windows Live Essentials which is a collection of programs that include Windows Live Mail, the new Messenger and a bunch of other programs. I am sure tomorrow will see a lot of reviews = both good and bad, because we know that Microsoft can’t do anything right.

Microsoft:

• Windows PCs take New York – The Windows Blog
  Yesterday and today folks from all of Microsoft’s consumer businesses – Windows, Office, Hardware, Xbox, etc. – were in NYC for our annual holiday preview event for consumer press and analysts where we show off our latest and greatest stuff, and give them a sneak peek at what’s coming this holiday season (read: a lot).

Windows Live & Bing:

• Windows Live Wave 4: The New Emoticons – LiveSide
  The new emoticons are waiting for Beta! (thanks for the heads up, @_tom!)
• Bing executive: ‘We have caught up’ to Google in search quality -LA Times
  For Microsoft, the online search game is no longer about trying to mimic Google’s features inside of Bing.

Windows Phone 7:

• Microsoft builds a Windows Phone 7 developer platform, but will the coders come? – Mary Jo Foley
  In the PC world, vendors used to say that the hardware and operating system were far less important than the number and variety of applications available for a given platform.
