Being that it was a long weekend in the US news pickings has been pretty slim. Hopefully tomorrow will be a bit better.

Microsoft:

  • In Search of Microsoft’s Tablet Strategy – Technologizer
    Even though Microsoft hasn’t had much to say about tablets lately, it would be stunning if its tablet strategy hadn’t evolved a lot since early January. Actually, given its track record in recent months, it’s probably just as well if it stays mum until it can show products which will definitely ship in our lifetimes.
  • Microsoft gets back into the store business to take on Apple – VentureBeat
    Microsoft is planning to open its own store in the Seattle area as it seeks to compete with Apple in the company-owned store business.TechFlash reported that Microsoft plans to open a store at the Bellevue Square mall, according to building permits filed with the suburban city near Seattle. Apple’s own store at the Bellevue Square location will be moving to a larger venue.

    IE8 users have been reporting that they are no longer able to see the New Tab page which displays most visited sites and other options whenever a new tab is opened. If you have been wondering that something has gone wrong, don’t panic, it is a deliberate decision by Google to adhere to new IE add-on guidelines and requirements posted by Microsoft, which can be viewed here.

Windows

  • Google ditches Windows on security concerns – FT.com
    Google is phasing out the internal use of Microsoft’s ubiquitous Windows operating system because of security concerns, according to several Google employees.
