I have been using Microsoft’s Security Essentials since it first went into beta and have been quite pleased with it. Word out today via Mary Jo Foley at her All About Microsoft blog suggests that the final version of the security package will be released tomorrow, September 29.

As she says in the post – she had heard some unsourced reports that this was going to be the date but it wasn’t until she saw the Twitter message from Network world Editor John Fontana that she felt comfortable posting anything about it.

Those of you already running the security package will probably find it sitting in your Windows Update queue. The rest will have to wait for Microsoft to make the download link public at which point I’ll pass it on here and on the WinExtra Twitter feed
