Thanks for nice information and Social media needs to get together and work together to pull a Dan Rather on the whole of the beaurocracy, expose the waste and fraud and corruption. Use the power of social media to elect good people who don't want careers in politics, use it to aid school boards in fighting teacher's unions and get rid of poor-performing teachers.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
danieljames
widecircles

Technology is just a tool. I'm sure the inventors of television optimistically thought of all the good it could have been - education, bringing people together, allowing people to communicate visually - and now in the present day it's debatable how much good it has really done, knowing all the time wasting, absolute schlock aired on a regular basis. Even my favorite show, Battlestar Galactica, doesn't exactly save lives or feed the world. It's entertainment.

Yes and no. When it's the same small minority, they don't drive change; they hinder it. They are the people you are taught to ignore when doing development, because a) they will never be happy and b) what they like and want isn't necessarily indicative of what the larger audience likes and wants. You need to shoot for the middle ground, and that 2% usually isn't anywhere near it.

Isn't it almost always a small minority that pushes change? A lot of the things being complained about are completely inevitable. Let's be honest, MS hasn't always been a great corporate citizen, so even if it's fairly ludicrous that they could close the web by buying Yahoo! Search and Facebook, criticism and concern is warranted.
