This morning Disqus flipped the switch that enable users of their comment platform to use the Seesmic video system to leave video comments on member blogs that had enabled the feature. I am told that by Daniel that the feature will be automatically enabled for new Disqus members as they join so if they don’t want it they will have to head to their Disqus control panel to disable it.
Currently you will be able to tell if the video comment system is enable by the addition of a small red icon with the Record Video Comment link beside it. Since I don’t have a webcam; which might be a good thing as scaring off my readers isn’t a good idea, I won’t be using the new feature.
Since there is no real overhead with carrying the feature I will keep it turned on but personally I don’t know if this is really where comment interaction is heading but I do know that as a blog owner running it that there is more work involved in moderating them so I will be taking that into account over the long haul.
In the meantime enjoy the new Disqus feature and if you have a webcam give them a shot letting me know what you think about video comments.
