I agree with this. But why shouldn't independent group blogs or blog networks thrive by leveraging the same dynamics of a RWW or Venture Beat? Of course its hard to have a clear distinctive voice as a group because it requires more coordination than a solo blogger. I don't think biggest will always win…there is always opportunity for a small squad of bloggers working together to break through the noise. Look at you, @corvida, @louisgray… more cross-promotion could create a virtual Venture Beat or RWW from a group of solo bloggers.

No Corvida I would want to be myself. Fame doesn't mean you have to “suck up” to anyone but it can mean that your words, thoughts and ideas can have an effect - can really make people think - can have an impact. It doesn't have to be “famewhoring” but it can be bringing people together to effect a change - to be a voice that is listened to.

Fame is a tricky beast and in many ways it gives the wrong connation to what I wanted to express but sometime the English language can fail us when we need it the most.

Would you want to be Scoble? I sure wouldn't. All that constant famewhoring and being “on” all the time. Don't get me wrong; I love tech, but I don't live it and breathe it, and I certainly don't want to have to suck up to the Twitterati constantly.

Much of the conversation is now taking place off of blogs at places like Twitter and FriendFeed. This makes it easier for new voices to build a following, it just isn't all concentrated on their blogs.

Totally agree - FF has introduced me to more new writers (at least new to me) than anything else lately.

As for somebody hiring me: I wouldn't be surprised if somebody hired Steven long before me
