I had a really cool thing happen today. I was delivered by courier my own copy of Nicholas Carr’s new book The Big Switch. This was cool for a couple of reasons with the first being that this is my first time getting something other than stickers as a result of being a blogger. The second is that - while not being the typical “un-boxing” you see happening around the b’sphere - I got to have some fun doing an un-bagging of my new acquisition.

In all seriousness though the reason I had this chance was because of a post on Nick’s blog offering up a few pre-release copies of the book. Granted it was available in January on Amazon the publisher apparently had problems with my snail mail address and was good enough to email me last for a confirmation which I sent. I am a big fan of Nick’s blog and having this chance which I normally wouldn’t have had to read one of his books is a plus for me.

So a big thanks Nick to you and your publisher W.W. Norton and Company for the book and I’ll make sure to write up my thoughts on once I get finished reading it.
