I was never a willing Yahoo user before and I can tell you that if recent events with trying to use my MyBlogLog account are any indication I never will be a Yahoo customer. In fact I hope you get your ass bought out from under you because even Microsoft couldn’t possibly fubar stuff up the way you have.
I will give credit to Ian Kennedy at MyBlogLog for at least trying to straighten out a screwed up situation but in the end not even his intervention has made one bit of difference. Which is too bad because I like MyBlogLog and have always thought it held a lot of promise as a great little tool for bloggers; and for readers to find new blogs to read, but since the forced amalgamation by Yahoo into using their ID system things have gone from bad to worse.
When I first wrote about my problems back in December of last year Ian was good enough to step in personally and try to get things reset back to a point where things should have gone smoothly but in fact it has only gotten even more screwed up. Sure I can sign in to Yahoo with my snazzy Yahoo ID but then I get immediately switched to the MyBlogLog page where I had to enter in my old MLB email and password - only problem it didn’t work. It also didn’t work for any of the other possible 3 standard passwords or email addresses I use.
So I figured that maybe they had finally gotten the resend password part finally working so I logged out of everything to do with Yahoo and MBL and started all over again but this time instead of entering my password and clicking the Take Me to Step 2 button I clicked the good old “Forgot your old MyBlogLog sign in information” link which is where I entered in my email address just as I did over a month ago when I had tried this before and click the Submit button.
And just like I am still waiting for that email from the time I tried this a month ago I am still waiting for the newest try to send me my information. The thing is I would normally just say screw it and move on to something else but in this case MBL is a service I liked using and was just getting the hang of the community aspect of it all.
While I am sure that the large majority of MBL users probably made the switch over to the new Yahoo ID system without any problems I didn’t
and the whole process has left me with a very sour taste in my mouth about anything to do with Yahoo - to the point I couldn’t careless if they get bought out or who does the buying because as far as I am concerned whoever it is can’t screw things up any worse than they already are.
Oh and hour later and I’m still waiting on that email from Yahoo …….
