I realize that in the comments of one of my previous posts Jason from webomatica made mention that he wasn’t a big fan of my commentaries on the silliness that the supposedly intelligent bloggers of Dave Winer’s stature; even though he did say that they gave him a chuckle, but sometimes Jason I can’t help but say something when people like Dave make utterly stupid comments.
Today was one of those days when Dave should have stayed on his porch in his rocking chair commiserating over how the blogosphere use to be his own little playground where he invented everything. Instead though he goes on a bit of a tirade about the …mini-debate going on about whether podcasting is a success or worth it …which lead him off into left field about how his phone doesn’t have a business model as nor does his porch.
Now I don’t know about his porch not having a business model; which if he installed a red light I’m sure he could fix, but we’d better send out some smoke signals to AT&T, Verizon and any of the other billion dollar baby Bells that there’s no business models to be had with phones so they’d better get out while the getting is good.
I swear the way that Dave keeps putting his foot in his mouth lately one could make a good business model around a blog pointing out the brilliance according to Winer .. oh wait …. there is one already. Not to mention that gems like this from Dave aren’t a singular event. It seems that at some point so-called smart people in the tech world make some of the stupidest statements … hmmmm I wonder …….

And I'm sorry but I'm not an ass kisser or a yes man .. I call them as I see them. If for example you posted something that I thought was important and worth commenting I I will ... but in the same vein that doesn't give you or anyone blanket immunity if I think you've flubbed it.
If you feel at anytime that I've had commented on something you have said is wrong (and IIRC there was one time where you pointed out my terminology was overly harsh to which I agreed and apologized) then I please point it out to me and we can go from there.

You know what I think? You want more people to read your blog, so you think if you say really outrageous things they will come. But I can tell it's not working, so why don't you try sticking to saying smart things yourself and stop worrying so much about whether other people are smart or not, and maybe over time you'll get some readers who respect you and learn stuff from you and I think you'll find that's when having a blog is really worth it.
Just my opinion, of course your mileage may vary, etc etc.

supposedly .. other folks put forth the impression you are a smart man
Nothing confusing there nor asskissing but then that's just my opinion which can amount to a hill of beans in some folks eyes.
As for the headline nowhere did your name appear .. it was a general observation that smart people can make stupid comments to which I used your telephone analogy as an example.
Now if I was making a sweeping statement it would be that according to others and from what I read on your blog and your interactions with other you you put forth an intelligent persona. However (like most normal folks) you seem to say some down right silly things but again that is my opinion and you can add it to that growing hill of beans over there. That doesn't mean that I think I am smarter than you or anyone else for that matter - it is strictly personal opinion. If you feel that the post was directed to you personally then all the glory to you. but that is making an assumption that may or may not be true since the post was a generalization on a whole rather than an individual such as yourself.
Sure I would like people to read my blog; which they seem to be doing in growing numbers, but if we want to start slapping outrageous statements around to get attention I bow to the past master of it..
As for me saying smart things myself ... well I don't blow my own horn .. I just write thoughts and opinions as they come to me or are sparked by what others - such as yourself - and let the readers decide for themselves if I'm an idiot or not.

Lets just remember that everyone says something stupid from time to time, your no exception, but not everyone is such a tool as to then try and make the person who points out such universal stupidity, as nothing more than an itch on the arse of humanity. Well done for exposing your fragile side Dave, maybe you should be the one feeling the depression as only 10 people thought your were interesting enough to click on.

If you think that pointing out a silly statement is meant to cut you down to size then you are wearing a set of britches a few to sizes to big for you. What I wrote was an illustration of some of the silly things that get said in the blogosphere .. it could have had Michael Arrington's name or even Robert Scoble's name attached to any number of silly things they have said.It just so happened that I read your post earlier and it struck my funny bone so I wrote about it.
but then I guess my opinions given my inability to send you digg quantities of visitors aren't worth anything and I should refrain from pointing out the obvious silliness of what people say.
Thank you for that lesson .. I shall treasure it forever.
As for click through counts maybe it's because your name was attached and people knowing how you like to hyperbole didn't need to go any further.
