Hey, I did a search on Steven Hodson, and look what's right at the top of the list.

    You're very welcome! :-)

Dave .. I never denied that you weren't a smart man .. on the contrary I think you can be very smart and someone I read everyday. That doesn't stop me from thinking that some of the things you say are ... well .. shall we say just a tad wacked :)

And I'm sorry but I'm not an ass kisser or a yes man .. I call them as I see them. If for example you posted something that I thought was important and worth commenting I I will ... but in the same vein that doesn't give you or anyone blanket immunity if I think you've flubbed it.

If you feel at anytime that I've had commented on something you have said is wrong (and IIRC there was one time where you pointed out my terminology was overly harsh to which I agreed and apologized) then I please point it out to me and we can go from there.

I think you are asskissing in this comment, at least you're contradicting the piece you wrote earlier. Look at the headline, just to get started -- you say I'm supposedly smart, but here you say I can be very smart. You seem confused. Anyway why bother making sweeping statements about other people's intellects. It's so personal. What makes you so smart that you can tell? Kind of arrogant and smarmy if you ask me.

You know what I think? You want more people to read your blog, so you think if you say really outrageous things they will come. But I can tell it's not working, so why don't you try sticking to saying smart things yourself and stop worrying so much about whether other people are smart or not, and maybe over time you'll get some readers who respect you and learn stuff from you and I think you'll find that's when having a blog is really worth it.

Just my opinion, of course your mileage may vary, etc etc.

Can be .... meaning in general you appear to be a smart man
supposedly .. other folks put forth the impression you are a smart man

Nothing confusing there nor asskissing but then that's just my opinion which can amount to a hill of beans in some folks eyes.

As for the headline nowhere did your name appear .. it was a general observation that smart people can make stupid comments to which I used your telephone analogy as an example.

Now if I was making a sweeping statement it would be that according to others and from what I read on your blog and your interactions with other you you put forth an intelligent persona. However (like most normal folks) you seem to say some down right silly things but again that is my opinion and you can add it to that growing hill of beans over there. That doesn't mean that I think I am smarter than you or anyone else for that matter - it is strictly personal opinion. If you feel that the post was directed to you personally then all the glory to you. but that is making an assumption that may or may not be true since the post was a generalization on a whole rather than an individual such as yourself.

Sure I would like people to read my blog; which they seem to be doing in growing numbers, but if we want to start slapping outrageous statements around to get attention I bow to the past master of it..

As for me saying smart things myself ... well I don't blow my own horn .. I just write thoughts and opinions as they come to me or are sparked by what others - such as yourself - and let the readers decide for themselves if I'm an idiot or not.

I can tell you don't have many readers by the number of hits your link to me generates, btw. So far after a couple of hours only 10 people have clicked through. It is Friday night, so of course it's going to be slow, but that's very depressing if you ask me. Here you put all this energy into cutting me down to size and only ten people thought it was interesting enough to click through to see what all the fuss was about.

What a pompous, arrogant attitude you project here Dave, so you *only* got 10 click through's, WOW maybe Steve had better reconsider his career choice and take up knitting instead.
Lets just remember that everyone says something stupid from time to time, your no exception, but not everyone is such a tool as to then try and make the person who points out such universal stupidity, as nothing more than an itch on the arse of humanity. Well done for exposing your fragile side Dave, maybe you should be the one feeling the depression as only 10 people thought your were interesting enough to click on.

Oh dear I guess I better go and suck back that bottle of sleeping pills and declare myself a failure after only being able to send ten visitors to your post that was mentioned.

If you think that pointing out a silly statement is meant to cut you down to size then you are wearing a set of britches a few to sizes to big for you. What I wrote was an illustration of some of the silly things that get said in the blogosphere .. it could have had Michael Arrington's name or even Robert Scoble's name attached to any number of silly things they have said.It just so happened that I read your post earlier and it struck my funny bone so I wrote about it.

but then I guess my opinions given my inability to send you digg quantities of visitors aren't worth anything and I should refrain from pointing out the obvious silliness of what people say.

Thank you for that lesson .. I shall treasure it forever.

As for click through counts maybe it's because your name was attached and people knowing how you like to hyperbole didn't need to go any further.

Well Dave, I have never read any of your work, and probably never will because of your last two comments here. I would have to say you are a pretty arrogant person to think that just because someone links to your blog that all of that person's readers are going to rush to your site.
