I am sure there are a lot of bloggers out there who couldn’t give a rat’s patootie about their various stats about their blogs. I unfortunately don’t fall into that category as I love to view my daily stats to see how the blog is doing. Normally I use an excellent WordPress plugin called FireStats which does a great job for actual visits to the blog; however one area that it doesn’t cover is the RSS feeds and while Feedburner itself does provide some relevant stats like everything else I am sure there is more than can be pulled from all those numbers.
Then today I noticed a post by Jeffro where he was talking about a site called BlogPerfume; and no it’s not a way to make your blog smell nicer, that has developed an interesting program called Feed Analysis. The program is intended to provide bloggers with a whole slew of new sliced and diced stats results based on you RSS feed usage. As Jeffro quotes them from their page:
By the use of Feed Analysis, the number of subscribers for each month is neatly shown on the column chart. You can also view the number of subscribers, hits, views and clicks for every single day from the line chart. The best/worst day of the week is also available which is displayed on the pie chart. And also, Feed Analysis can give you an estimated value for your blog / site according to the number of your subscribers.
So being the stats junkie I am I couldn’t resist giving the service a try and below is one of the three charts that are used to display the results of the analysis of your Feedburner activity during the time you can set.
The folks at Feed Analysis are the first to admit that the results may not be 100% mainly due to the fact that the software is still being worked on and that accuracy will improve as the system evolves.
In the meantime you can play around with it and see how well your RSS feed traffic is growing, benefiting you and possibly help you figure out what your blog’s RSS feed advertising worth is - which if you want to be able to monetize your work is a good thing to know.
