There is a certain amount of satisfaction when you manage to track down what is causing a problem for which you only have a cryptic error message much like what I was getting when trying to add some widgets to the sidebar area of the blog.
For some reason I was getting the old ..Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site … and the page would crash. Of course to make things even worse the error never occurred in Safari or Firefox; and to top it off it would happen in IE6 but not always IE7. Needless to say confusion reigned the day until a search turned up the fact that it is a known bug in all versions of Internet Explorer.
The problem appears to be how child containers is trying to write back to the main HTML in relation to DIV’s and since I use DIVs within the text widgets to center whatever is being displayed I think that is creating the problem. So my desire to keep everything looking good could be the cause of my headaches; but even there I can’t be sure.
So for the next little bit things may be a little confusing as far as the widgets and page loading - at least until I can get this problem sorted out. However with my PHP and WordPress skills not being of the highest caliber
finding the solution will probably be a case of hit and miss so have patience while I try and get things working properly.
