A mish mash of rambling thoughts
Oct 8th, 2007 | By Steven Hodson | Category: Odds & Ends
I hate days like the past couple of days. No matter how I try nothing I see being posted seems to catch my eye or sparks the requisite crankiness needed to inspire any worthy flow of words. It also doesn’t help that usually the beginning of the month my wife’s illness’ seem to flair up with one of the side effects being extreme bouts of insomnia. Watching a loved one going through days of next to absolutely no sleep can be disheartening in the least.
So reports of things like Newsvine being absorbed by MSNBC, or the latest spat of ego over stupid things like social networks and whether people like Robert Scoble think that contrary to belief Facebook can be used for business just don’t seem to be all that important.
It also doesn’t help that this malaise of a lack of original thought is precipitated by what I believe to be a minor case of clinical depression that likes to play tag with me during these times.
I know that one of the cardinal rules of blogging is once you have set a posting pattern your readers come to expect you to keep it and when you don’t you risk losing readers which is not a good thing for a relatively new blog have happen. I know a lot of bloggers try and make up for this lack of worthwhile posts by posting the famous link farm type of thing. I just haven’t gotten around to doing this in a format that appeals to me or I think will actually be useful beyond filling space.
So what do I do during these lackadaisical periods of disinterest?
Well the last couple of days I’ve been playing a lot of Vegas style Solitaire which has me currently sitting about $1,200.00 in the hole (thank goodness it’s only fake money points); and I’ve been watching as much British cops shows that I can get my hands on. If you’re interested in my current favorites you find them listed in a post over on my braincell soup blog.
Hopefully the morning will bring something to get my cranky juices flowing and things will have settled back to a little more normal around here. For now though I’ll get back to losing more funny money playing solitaire.
