Gotta hate it when reality bites eh Robert…

Every once in awhile Robert Scoble seems to have a bit of a tantrum and says he’s taking a blogging break. I’ve seen it happen a few times but I always knew it wouldn’t last and he would be back - his bombastic self in all his verbal glory.
That’s one of the things I have always like about Robert - it didn’t matter how many times he might have felt lower than a snake’s belly he always got himself back up and was delighting some and pissin’ off other a few days later.
Throughout all this; in my opinion anyway, Robert has held out for the good of what people are able to create on the web. Whether it be blogs, Twitter or Facebook and who knows what will excite him next week - through it all he has championed honesty and transparency for everyone involved.
But in the Gnomedex aftermath and maybe for the first time it appears he’s taken a serious look at what has become of the Web 2.0 landscape and reality has set in. For every good blog there’s AdSense farms polluting almost every sector of the web. For every social network there are people misusing and ruining them.
And that’s the reality Robert - for every good thing we try and do there is going to be people out there who are going to shit on it and abuse it to their own benefits without any consideration for others and their hard work. It sucks when that realization happens and depending on one’s involvement can be depressing to see the things we work so hard for being bastardized.
All I can suggest Robert is relish the coming birth of your child and spend some time with your family in the sun recharging those batteries of optimism that you are so well known for.
