I’m not a big games player. I like my Civilization 4 and Dungeon Siege 2 but every once in awhile I just want to be able to load up my BFG and go and blow the shit outta bad guys and monsters. I don’t want to have to be a part of a team, I don’t want to have to go online and be continually embarrassed, and I don’t want to have to hurt my head having to figure out riddles or know how to drive some vehicle.
I just want to blow off some steam and see lotsa blood and guts as my rail gun mows down the encroaching meanies.
So what happened to those nice simple load ‘em up and blow ‘em up games. What happened to Doom and its simple addictive game play. Why are we having to pay small fortunes for the games and the machinery to play what is suppose to be enjoyable escapism.
It’s not like we couldn’t have the beauty of the cryEngine graphics AND the simple start at Point A and shoot your way to Point B. We don’t need multi DVD setups to do that - we don’t need to spend 48hrs of non-stop fiddling with flashlights or figuring out how to jump to impossible heights.
We just want to have a couple of hours of blowing shit up - is that too much to ask for?
