Oh how I wish I could be a drooling fanboy

Yup .. you guessed it - or if you haven’t you’ve been under a rock - Apple mania has once more struck the tech world and the drooling has begun. Whether it be the four posts in row from Robert Scoble in his new role of fanboy for all that is Appledom to Engadget’s photo session with the new iMac.
Sure this might sound like sour grapes because after all what is there for us Windows users to drool over? Vista? .. not likely.
Where Steve Jobs by his very presence on the stage makes you want to bow down and open your wallets, Windows get the Howdy Doody show with Howdy doing the best Droopy impression ever and Doody dancing like a mad fool throwing chairs and shouting developers, developers, developers.
Well screw the developer crap - how about USERS, USERS, USERS for a damn change and I don’t mean those corporate buddies that fill your coffers. I mean the users that have stuck with you through things like Windows ME and now Vista. Isn’t it about time that we had something to truly drool over and not have to mortgage the house or eat Kraft Dinner for a month.
If the best that you can come up with is glass edges and Flip 3D then Microsoft is a lot worse off than I thought and in the end the users are going to get totally fed up with having the heart of their wallets ripped out for nothing.
I have hung in there since Win 3.1 both as a user and a developer but you are getting too expensive for what little you are offering us the users - those users who would love to be drooling fanboy’s. So I truly hope that this cloak and dagger around Windows 7 will give us something to raise the trumpets over.
Now if you’ll excuse me I have to go and install some updates to fix stuff that should never have needed to be fixed if anyone really gave a damn.
