Social media is just one in the long continuum of different ways of organizing and communicating as a society, and one that has in my view brought a lot more good (easy spreading of useful knowledge, consequent explosion in creativity ) than bad. Of course, these are concerns not to be taken lightly, and I'm definitely pro privacy development in social networks.
