Scott:

I will admit that I do seem to have a small loyal band of readers who have made doing this on a daily basis worthwhile.

I didn't start this for fame either but I sure would like to be able to cover hosting costs, buy Ruby a treat or two and take my wife Kim out to dinner once a month. In just short of a year of doing this seriously I am still waiting to be able to do that.

Wow, I've been blogging since around '98-'99 and I have 713 posts and 639 comments at my main url. At both my blog I have about 1300 posts combined.

But I didn't start blogging for "fame" or traffic back then. Just to practice writing.

Too many people trying to blog for the money and "fame". They never realize that, in accordance with Sturgeons law, 99% of all the A-list blog posts are crap.

Actually Jason I'm just approaching the 1 year marker of serious blogging (Sept./Oct.) here and my post count is just over 500 (comment count is 1,019) so I think I have a little ways to go in that regard.

So... just wondering, have you been blogging for more than a year and just posted your 1,000th post?

Thanks Jim .. I appreciate the good words. Your point about writing content has some validity but for the new comer to the field who sees the term blog and content being used interchangeably your finer granulation of the the difference may be lost.

As for your upcoming idea I've been waiting since I read your post about it the other day ... always willing to look at new monetization ideas
