At both my blog I have about 1300 posts combined. But I didn't start blogging for "fame" or traffic back then. Just to practice writing. Too many people trying to blog for the money and "fame". They never realize that, in accordance with Sturgeons law, 99% of all the A-list blog posts are crap. Your point about writing content has some validity but for the new comer to the field who sees the term blog and content being used interchangeably your finer granulation of the the difference may be lost.
