Hmmm .. just what Window’s needed - another browser but with a hat tip to Jason over at webomatica I found out that as part of the Job’s Hype Train Apple has released a version of Safari to run on XP and Vista. You can see a screen shot of it to the left (click on image for larger view).
I don’t know what kind of traction that Apple expects to get with this release considering the fanboy hype that Firefox is always getting but I am always willing to give a new product like this a try-out for awhile.
My initial reaction is that I like the smoothness of it and while the page loading may not be as quick as Firefox or IE7 it does a good job of rendering the pages. As with any browser these days it has support for RSS notification and adding to the built-in reader which by the looks of it the river of news fans will appreciate but it doesn’t do much for me.
I’ll definitely play with it for awhile to see how it pans out over the long haul but I don’t know how likely it is that it will become my default browser.
