I came across this article posted on the CBC.ca site earlier today but flagged it for dealing with later when I wasn’t so pissed.
As it turns out Canada has slipped to eleventh place on the World Economic Forum’s networked readiness index. This index is used to gauge a country’s ability to harness information technologies for economic competitiveness and development. Slipping from even sixth place in 2004-2005 is bad enough but now we are even below the US on the scale.
This from a country that has produced so much in so many fields whether it be the Arts, Medicine or Technology. This should never have happened - it didn’t need to happen and to tread in the arena of politics for a moment the Canadian Government has sorely let its citizens down.
Other than glib promises I wonder what we can expect our [cough] esteemed [/cough] government to to about this? This is a question that every single Canadian blogger should be asking. We don’t deserve to be sitting at the bottom of the pile considering our past accomplishments. This is not the time to best using our laurels to be sleeping on.
